KINGSPAN LAUNCHES FOILBACK SOLUTION

The hottest news in the insulated panel technology industry, is the launch of Kingspan's new KS1000FB Foilback Insulated Panels for Roofing.

A product that will be welcomed universally by architects, builders and property owners, KS1000FB is specially engineered to cut costs when Section J roofing compliance is required and a suspended ceiling comes with the brief. The panel incorporates a high performance weather sheet bonded to a rigid firesafe Polyisocyanurate core which is backed with a reflective foil.

Helen Flood, Marketing Manger for Kingspan explains: "The new solution is really a matter of a 'why use belt and braces when a belt will do approach?'. Kingspan's KS1000FB roof panel achieves a Section J compliance rating in most climate zones when used with a suspended ceiling. The KS1000FB insulated panel with its stunning exterior presentation and high performance insulation combined with the reflective air space and suspended ceiling provides the required R value to achieve the compliance rating. This removes the need to insulate at ceiling level - a labour intensive procedure that can be a logistical nightmare. It's a very neat solution that has been welcomed by the industry."

Mrs. Flood continues: "Foilback represents a great saving for clients that want the prestigious aesthetic finish of the Kingspan insulated roofing panel technology for their building where a suspended ceiling is part of the brief and a Section J compliance rating is required."

This new addition to the product range compliments the KS1000 RW Roof panel - which is made up of the same high performance weather sheet, bonded to firesafe Polyisocyanurate core and comes complete with a pre-finsihed steel internal liner - is the perfect 'off the shelf' solution to Section J compliance in applications where a suspended ceiling is not incorporated.

KINGSPAN ROOF REFURBISHMENT
CREATES 'COOL LIGHT' SOLUTIONS

Kingspan insulated roofing panels have been successfully used for the refurbishment of a distribution facility in NSW. The client is reporting that the reflective value of the pale internal liner creates not only a much lighter environment than the traditional roof system it has replaced but is a cooler solution as well.

Within two weeks of the completion of the roof of his wholesale pharmaceutical distribution plant, National Operations Manager of Vetstar Logistics at Kings Park NSW, Steve Wright reported this very positive feedback. He says: " The insulated panels have created a cooler environment and transformed the light levels by raising them and making the space brighter. The flow on effect has been a lowering of electricity costs as there has been a reduction in the need for electric lighting throughout the day. With summer coming we expect that there will also be a benefit from reducing the air-conditioning required. I was also really surprised at just how quickly the panels were installed and we didn't suffer any down-time during the installation, which also represented a significant saving."

Jay Swannell Director of Hi-View Roofing Pty Ltd who were the installers responsible for the project, comments on the Kings Park project: "Kingspan's insulated roofing panels were fantastic to work with. Their great design meant they were easy to install and were much less labor intensive than other systems. After we had taken off the old roof it took us approximately 4 days to lay the 2,200 square metres of roofing. This included the time taken to install a number of skylights. We achieved an excellent result."

Kingspan insulated roof panels comprise the external finish, bonded to a rigid insulation core with a prefinished internal liner. The systems offer an all-in-one package. With its water tight panel design, an insulation material that has double the thermal performance of most other insulations commonly in use such as insulation batts and polystyrene and spanning capabilities that can reduce the purlin requirement by half, the system revolutionises the traditional construction process.
